The meeting is set for the seniors centre at 7pm.

Leanne Segeren-Swayze, the Director of Customers services with the municipality says the first meeting in Wheatley went well. “They were disappointed with the reduction of service in their community,” says Segeren-Swayze. “They wanted to know how we came up with a 50% reduction in Wheatley specifically.We identified it was based on volume in each of the municipal centres.”

The final report is due to council on the 28th of this month.

Authorities say the culprits cut through a fence on the Raleigh Township property some time late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Five locked utility trailers were forced open, with about $500 worth of brass and copper fittings stolen.

The costumes, make-up, trampolinists, contortunists and high-flying stunts often left me with my hands over my eyes and mouth dropped open in complete disbelief at what unfolded before my eyes. What a night!

Here are some highlights:

–The least-popular date for birthdays was February 29th, obviously . . . since it only occurs once every four years on a leap year, when there are actually 366 days in a year.

 –The second least popular day is December 25th. 

 –The most popular date for births is September 16th.  That’s JUST about nine months after the holiday season.  And actually, all ten of the most common birthdates are in September.

 –September 11th is the 24th most common . . . but that’s now dropping.

 –July and August have the second and third most births.

Generally, major holidays have a lot fewer births around them . . . people really don’t induce on those days.  July 4th has the fewest births of any summer day, and July 5th is second. The only exception is Valentine’s Day.  It has the most births of ANY day in the first five months of the year.

The 13th of every month also has a dip in births.  It seems to be the least popular day overall.

You remember Shapeups right? Those are the shoes with the goofy looking rounded sole…

Remember Kim Kardashian showed off her Shapeups (among other things) in that commercial that ran during the Super Bowl?

Remember Skechers had a doctor citing an “independent clinical study”? They forgot to mention the fact that he was married to a Skechers executive.

Remember all the commercials that said the shoes would tighten up the thighs, calves and buttocks?

Yeah, that won’t happen.

Skechers has agreed to a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission that will pay back 40 million dollars to consumers and another five million to various state governments. The FTC claimed that Skechers misled consumers with its claims about Shapeups sneakers.

Consumers who bought the shoes will be eligible for refunds.

If a guy’s “About Me” is the longest thing you’ve read in years, you either need to start reading more, or you need to ask yourself why he’s willing to put so much about himself out there. A guy who can’t go ten minutes without a status update either has OCD, far too much time on his hands or an inflated sense of self-importance. That said, a man who posts once a year may fear judgment by, or comments from, his so-called friends.

If Farmville and/or Mafia Wars account for 50 percent or more of his updates, he probably seeks refuge in virtual worlds because he doesn’t have a lot going on for himself in the actual world. Fantasy can be fun, but this type of dude may have trouble in face-to-face social situations (e.g., dating).

We don’t care if he swears up and down that he’s single, if his status says he’s in a relationship, he’s only flirting with you because he wants a sweetie on the side. And if his profile says he’s married, defriend the dude before he tries to make you a homewrecker.

A Facebook poker is a flirt of the worst kind: He lets you know he might be interested, keeping you on the line, without ever having to do a damn thing about it. Besides, we all know flirts like the attention, so chances are if he’s “poking” you, he’s sending out pokes to more than a few female Facebook friends.

If his mom is his only other friend, chances are he spends his Friday nights at home watching the Game Show Network. On the other hand, a man with over 1,000 pals may have a problem saying “no.” In any case, any dude who needs to know what everyone and anyone is up to may focus on other people because his own life is a bore

His Groups
It’s nice to see that a man has interests, but if he belongs to more groups than a teenage girl trying to climb the social ladder, it may mean that he desperately seeks approval and will jump on the bandwagon regardless of where it’s going.

What He’s a Fan Of
A guy who “likes” literally everything (people, products, brands, events, groups, cartoon characters, you name it) seems a bit desperate. While he could indeed be into all these things, his “likes” may just be a facade of the image he wants to project.

His Requests
Any guy who isn’t a celebrity, working performer or professional athlete but asks people to be a “fan” of him is either bigheaded or so insecure that he needs reminders that his “friends” like him. Reject the request and find a guy with a normal sense of self.

The First Nation decided to surrender land that had been set aside for it along the banks of the St. Clair River in Moore Township. It was legally handed over so this is not a vote on territorial rights.

However the Crown promised that when the land was sold to settlers, the First Nation would get full market value, something the Walpole band members believe didn’t happen.

If accepted by band members the $28-million settlement, to be held in trust, would compensate the First Nation for the missing money, interest over the years and the cost of pursuing the claim.
