Bentley says the Civil Remedies Act, which has been in place for eight years, is an invaluable tool. Police and Crown Attorneys work together on the seizures which have to be court approved, and the assets are held in trust until released, again by the courts.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Chatham-Kent police have new  remote controlled surveillance video equipment thanks to a 32 thousand dollar grant that game from criminals in the first place. <span id="more-3116"></span>They plan to use it to monitor grow-ops, drug dealers and other criminal activity in the area. Attorney General Chris Bentley was at police headquarters this morning to make the announcement. The money comes from the Civil Remedies Act which allows police to seize illegal goods and items used in committing a crime and the profits of crime. The money goes into a provincial pool and police services can apply for grants for specific applications.</p>
