Part of the Pratas tribunal has been resolved, while the other half is on-going.

CAW Local 444 president Rick Laporte says over a 4-year span, about 45 migrant workers at Presteve Foods received lower wages than their Canadian counterparts.  “During the weekend, we worked out an agreement with Presteve Foods and the new owner, Ulysses Pratas, in regards to a proposal for those workers who lost wages.”  Laporte says the wages will be recouped, but the sexual assault case against former owner Joe Pratas involving eight workers has been delayed.

Pratas and his son share the same lawyer, who has now declared a conflict of interest and stepped away from the assault case.

The union president says they’ll know where that trial stands as of March 6th.
