A local author and historian will be showcasing his latest work at the Chatham Capitol Theatre tonight to kick off Black History Month.

“Road To Freedom” will include readings from Bryan Prince’s new novel “One More River To Cross,” which tells the true story of escaped slave Issac Brown.

“My wife Shannon and I do a concert series with a choir from London, the Karen Schuessler Singers, and Denise Pelley, who is a vocalist,” says Prince. “The choir and Denise Pelley will sing songs that will compliment the narratives that Shannon and I will do.”

Both Prince’s book and the CD “Road to Freedom” will be available for purchase at the event. The event gets underway at 7:30pm.
