The Chatham Maroons have a new road uniform. The team will unveil the new jersey shortly before the start of Sunday’s game against the Sarnia Legionnaires. Team president Larry Keenan says they “wanted to update the jersey without compromising the tradition of the Maroons name and emblem.” A special ceremony will take place at the end of warm-up to retire the old uniform. The Maroons will also be collecting old winter coats at the game for Operation Cover Up.

A deficit of almost a million dollars is because of seasonal employment variations and not a cause for concern according to a top official at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. VP Shona Elliott says part of the reason is an increase in overtime during the summer. That was needed to cover vacations and because of higher than usual illness. However she says a number of new budget initiatives are set to start in the fall, and budget forecasts still call for a small surplus at the end of the fiscal year. The new budget initiatives were previously planned. Elliott says they are not the result of the deficit.
