Oh computers, how I love thee – let me count the ways. As our early morning listeners heard today, we had a technical meltdown in the newsroom this morning – no internet, no editing programs, no nothing. If our fabulous IT guy wasn’t as fabulous as he is and walked me through fixing it over the phone, I don’t know what I would have done. We are so dependant on technology it’s ridiculous. Look, here you are, visiting the website of a radio station – we work hard to make sure people can get their news and community information not just on air, but online. Take away Chris’s iPhone or Katy’s Blackberry for a day, see how well they function. We have this need to be connected at all times. There are times I think it’d be nice if we could go back to simpler times when people just talked to each other, played board games in person, read an actual book….. but boy I’d miss my computer. Wouldn’t you?

Hi Robyn! Agree wholeheartedly. Without my computer and the Internet (aka psychospace)my job as an engineer would be so much harder. I entered the field when all catalogues were on paper. All contacts were by phone or snail mail. The pace of progress was still pretty brisk, but so much harder and more frustrating than now. (Unless the stupid thing calves. Then I long for the old days, too!)
By the way, what was the results of the Capitol Theatre poll today? I missed the recap.
Thanks!
Ray and Marie
