Having been a member of the Blackburn “team” since I was 15 ( now being over 45) I feel I can tell a few things about your new site. It is great that people like myself 1000’s of miles away can check on Chatham but since when does a Canadian radio station on Canada’s Day promote an AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE?
Do you remember how horified we were when Canadian school kids though Ronald Reagan was our president, even though Canada does not even have a president.
For shame!
It was July 1, 1867 that this great Country of ours was born! It wasn’t until actually until 1879 that the holiday was officially established and was Celebrated as Dominion Day, because we were part of the “Dominion” of Britain. (more…)

Happy Canada Day! Greetings from across the Romania! My husband just left to join the Canadian embassy staff for supper ( wives are not invited!) We remember Canada’s Day with mixed feelings of what she was, is and can be. I send greetings to all the folks who will be out to see the fireworks and hope you remember what it means to be free. Free to say what you really feel and think. Not just the Politiclly correct!
Have fun, there is plenty of work to do tomorrow!
Yes Canada is 143 years and still looking good, despite what the hoodlums tried to do in Toronto last week. Get and out celebrate on July 1 with family and friends (more…)

The United Way of Chatham-Kent is no longer leasing space at 425 McNaughton Avenue West. The not-for profit agency has instead taken out a mortgage on the property. Executive Director Karen-Kirkwod-White says the move will translate into more funds to invest in local programs and services — once the mortgage is paid off. The United Way intends to lauch a fundraising campaign to pay off the debt over the next four years.

Authorities are accusing a Ridgetown man of threatening and harassing a Chatham woman. Police say it started earlier this month, after the woman asked the 25-year-old suspect to leave the parking lot a Park Street residence. She believed he was dealing drugs. After that, police allege the man made multiple threats, and at one point came at her with a hockey stick.

Today is the deadline for proposals for the CK On The Edge art festival that will see two works of art created while people watch. Organizer Leslie Grand says two artists will be installing a project of some kind on two walls in the food court of the Downtown Chatham Center. The successful artists will be paid a $500 honorarium and will create the work during public hours at the mall during the festival, which runs July 8 through the 15.
